‘You’re a meddlesome interloper’ — supreme court reprimands PDP over ‘double nomination’ suit | TheCable

Author:The supreme court on Friday, described the Peoples Democratic Party as a “meddlesome interloper” over the suit seeking the disqualification of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.

The party claimed that the nomination of Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate of the APC was in breach of the provisions of sections 29, 33, 35, and 84 of the Electoral Act. Delivering judgement on Friday, a five-member panel of the apex court ruled that the PDP lacked the locus standi to institute the suit.

Adamu Jauro, a member of the panel who delivered the lead judgment, said: “It is therefore abundantly clear that a political party that files a suit challenging the nomination of a candidate of another political party would be a nosy busybody, a meddlesome interloper, peeping into the affairs of his neighbour without any backing,” the supreme court said.
