New South Wales has recorded its worst day on record with new COVID-19 cases skyrocketing over the 800 mark and beating all previous daily figures.
Both men contracted the virus at the Greenwood aged care home in Normanhurst and suffered significant unrelated health issues.
There are currently 516 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 85 people in intensive care, 29 of whom require ventilation.South Western Sydney LHD – 253Northern Sydney LHD – 18Central Coast LHD – oneWhile no infections have been reported in Orange or Lithgow overnight, NSW Health’s COVID-19 sewage program have detected fragments of the virus in nearby treatment plants.
She also flagged an earlier than expected easing of restrictions if the 70 per cent double dose vaccine rate was achieved before the end of October as forecasted. “We really need to make sure that by the time we start opening up, the case numbers are as low as we can get them. Then that means we are not leaving the unvaccinated vulnerable.”
