WorldBloodDonor Day: Voluntary blood donation still at 10% in Lagos –Abayomi

As the world marks the 2020 World Blood Donor Day, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, says voluntary blood donation in the state is still at 10 per cent.He urged youths in the state to voluntarily donate blood to save lives.

According to the World Health Organisation, the idea is to focus on the contribution an individual donor can make to improve health for others in the community. He said an average of 50 per cent of blood donated in all general hospitals in the state were from husbands of pregnant women seeking antenatal and maternity services.
