“What we are doing now is for the runway and perhaps airfield light.”

The development is coming two months after work was suspended over the coronavirus pandemic and several months after the airport was closed for repair works.

However, workers of the PW Construction Company, the contractor that won the job, had in the month of March left site over the ravaging coronavirus in the country. He added that had work gone on for another 14 days, the jobs would have been completed and assured that the work would continue when the pandemic was over.

One of the officials told The Guardian on the condition of anonymity: “We have had to battle phenomenal challenges and mitigating factors to reach this milestone, the pandemic lockdown notwithstanding.
