The International Federation of Women Lawyers says in spite of the ongoing efforts to promote same opportunities in all areas for the sexes, gender equality has not been attained by any country of the world.

The day is to celebrate the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women and also serves as a focal point in the movement for women’s rights.Nneji also noted that the celebration was very significant because Year 2020 marks the 25th Anniversary of the 1995 World Conference on Women, which had established the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

“They were committed into taking strategic and bold action on 12 important areas of lack, some of which are: poverty, health, health, education, media coverage, among others. “It is very unfortunate that no country in the whole world can claim to have achieved gender equality, progress has been agonisingly very slow.”The FIDA chairperson called for equal opportunities for women to make various choices at the workplace, noting that society should not constrain the female gender into being what they do not want to be.
