Windstorm destroys 200 buildings in Borno community
“The windstorm preceding a heavy downpour swept across the town starting from 5pm on May 25,” a resident, Mairo Shettima, who had the roof of her mud house completely blown off, told newsmen in Biu on Thursday.
“I had just returned from the market when the storm started,” the farmer and mother of eight recalled, saying pathetically, “Since then I have not sought refuge at any relations’ house.” She would not give any reason for her decision. She continued: “I sleep instead in the house without any roof; whenever it rains, I cover myself with a mat.”All rights reserved.
