To prevent Bonny Council from becoming an epicentre of the coronavirus disease in Rivers State, the state government may lock down the island today.

The governor said the kingdom also known as ‘Grand Bonny’ was strategic to the national economy, adding that the people must work together with the state government to stop the disease from crippling the economy. “The results of samples collected from Bonny indicate that it could be an epicentre of the pandemic in the state if drastic action is not taken. It is not something our people should pretend that it does not exist. Something that has taken the world by storm and killing more than conventional warfare should be taken seriously.
