Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila said on Wednesday that the agitation that the South-East was left out as beneficiaries of the $22 billion loan gave rise to why the House stopped it consideration and approval.

The Speaker said he had personally spoken with Finance Minister and the Director General of the Budget Office to find a solution. “I know there has been a lot of agitation about Southeast not benefiting from the loan. It is one of the reasons we haven’t considered the loan in the House. I’ve discussed with the Finance Minister and the DG Budget.

“We can have continuous engagements. This is the first, but hopefully not the last. I like the fact that you’re involved in issues of politics and governance. From time to time, you need to borrow us your wisdom and knowledge in those areas,” he said.
