The last May not have been heard on why His Majesty, Friday Abaja ,Ukwata 1, of Umukwata Kingdom in Ukwuani local Government Area of Delta State was suspended by the state Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.
It was gathered that besides lands tussle with his kinsmen and the people of the community, Ukwata 1 had also been fingered in cases of communal clashes among his community and other neighbouring communities, a situation that had allegedly led to the killings of several persons in the recent times. Before he was crownd, it was gathered that there was series of protests by the people of Umukwata Kingdom to the State House of Assembly and Goverment House alleging that Ukwata 1 was grossly indisciplined who had introduced Kingship to the kingdom.
An indigene of Umukwata Kingdom who spoke to Journalists on condition of anonymity said” Ukwata introduced Kingship to the kingdom we don’t want Such, He is very wicked, and had decicrated our lands hence we petition the Governor on his atrocities and now he is on suspension and he can’t come back, what we practice is Onutuku and not Kingship”
