There are lots of misconceptions about the mental disorder
The prevalent focus is on increasing awareness, ending stigma and reducing the number of people who are suffering in the dark. But often missing from the dialogue are the voices of those who are already successfully living, or even thriving, after the diagnosis of a life changing mental health illness. As a result, the image often painted is one of a continued struggle, not success, giving the impression that once you're diagnosed your life is, in many respects, over.
