Aliyu Abdullahi, spokesperson for Aisha Buhari, wife of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari , has said his principal stopped speaking out recently because people ‘misconstrue’ her intentions

Mrs Buhari recently called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to immediately release her aides who were reportedly detained based on the orders of the Chief Security Officer to the President, Idris Kassim. “She always speaks out publicly. The reason she has stopped speaking out now is that whenever she speaks, people misconstrue or take her statement out of context. But she always means well for the country so that she and her children can have a bright future even after this administration is over.”The Private Secretary to the President, Yusuf Sabiu, had returned from another state and refused to self-isolate but forced his way to the Presidential Villa.
In what seems to be a desperate appeal, the President’s wife tweeted, “That Covid-19 is real and still very much around in our nation is not in doubt. Consequently, I call on all relevant government agencies to enforce the Quarantine Act signed by Mr. President and ensure no one is found violating this law and the NCDC guidelines especially on interstate travel without the necessary exemptions for movement of essentials.
