The crowd, made up mostly of women, was collectively having a moment: basking in that feeling of pure contentment you get when you know there’s nowhere in the world you’d rather be. Some have made successful careers this way – if not using their personal experiences, then holding their hands up to their flaws and owning their characters. Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Nigel Farage and others are good examples of politicians people feel like they understand and even like, in spite of mistakes which would end other political careers.So why don’t more do it? Some cite the fear that the more of yourself you show, the more personal attacks become.
