The Adamawa chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), says it would do everything possible to ensure that the indefinite industrial action, scheduled to commence on October 3, was fully implemented across the State.
Mr.Emmanuel Fashe, state chairman of the union, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Yola on Saturday, that his NLC chapter has formed a formidable monitoring committee which comprises experienced civil servants who were fully exposed on unionism activities.
He explained that the strike was necessitated by the current economic hardship being experienced by Nigerians due to the removal of petroleum subsidy by the federal government. According to him, the union is, among other things, demanding for a wage award for civil servants and other concrete palliative measures for Nigerians.
“Salary increase is usually after every five years and by 2024 we would demand an upward review of the minimum wage,” he added.
