It also said the state’s health sector was growing at a tremendous pace, owing to its strengthened coverage and the increased attention given to it by the government led by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. While highlighting the achievements of the state government in the sector at an inter-ministerial press briefing organised by the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, said the state’s primary healthcare centres had been revitalized, as 258 had been completed and already delivering services to both rural and urban dwellers of the state, including the poorest of the poor.
Isamotu explained that Governor Oyetola had saved a number of public facilities from outright ruin under the revitalisation scheme, adding that some of the PHCs that had previously been “overtaken by monkeys and other animals, according to reports,” had been turned around for effective service delivery to the residents.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, read in part, “Notably, the primary healthcare center at Arowojobe, which was first built in 1965 without toilets and left in a dilapidated state as a result of poor management, has been revitalised, or actually rebuilt, by the current administration with all necessary facilities in place.
