The Australian Energy Market Operator said there was sufficient supply to meet demand this weekend as energy companies reject claims they have profited from the energy crisis.
While the market operator has taken over the supply of power, energy companies will still beMs McNamara – who represents 20 coal and gas companies – said any suggestions companies were trying to game the system to receive higher compensation from the market operator were off the mark.
“Since announcing the suspension of the electricity spot market, we have seen improvements in generation availability, as reflected in our forecasts,” it said in a statement. The special powers give Mr Kean temporary authority to order coal producers to deliver fuel to electricity generators.
