More and more animals are coming into Bleakholt with urgent medical conditions meaning the vets costs are soaring

A Lancashire animal sanctuary has launched an urged appeal for help after their vets costs soared to £40,000 a month.

However, the sanctuary based in Edenfield, Rossendale, are finding more and more animals coming in with urgent medical conditions meaning the vets costs are rising significantly. It costs around £1.6m to run the sanctuary annually, which is mostly from donations.Sanctuary Manager Karen Weed said: "In July alone our veterinary costs were £40,000 which is huge.

"And that's not naming every cat, dog and rabbit which needs treatment or ongoing attention for our animals who live permanently with us. Our motto is: 'Care for those who have no-one' and we want to continue to be there for every animal which needs us.
