Nineteen-year-old Godfrey Ebele was killed in Maiduguri, Borno State, after a mortar attack by suspected Boko Haram members in front of his home. His elder brother, Emmanuel Ebele, speaks withThere have been recent attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, by Boko Haram. Were you one of those affected?

My younger brother, Godfrey Ikenna Ebele, was killed in the recent bomb blast and he’s dead now. It happened last Thursday .It was a mortar attack because where it exploded was actually the gate of our house and he was just leaving the house to go somewhere. The mortar fell there and that wounded him. He was bleeding from his pelvic region and he had a little cut in his chest.

It’s very shocking but they are holding up. One of them had to come down to Maiduguri from Abuja the next day. But the eldest couldn’t come because she wasn’t too strong. We all left Maiduguri on Wednesday because we just had to have a change of environment. So, we left for Abuja. No, there has not been any attack in Maiduguri for a very long time. That mortar was just something else that was shocking and surprising because nothing had occurred in the town of Maiduguri for so long.
