We didn’t go to vote because we didn’t know the candidates – Abuja residents vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
Officials count votes in front of voters during the presidential and parliamentary elections on February 23, 2019, at a polling station in Port Harcourt, southern Nigeria. – Nigerians began voting for a new president on February 23, after a week-long delay that has raised political tempers, sparked conspiracy claims and stoked fears of violence.
The residents of Gishiri who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria said they did not need to vote because they did not know the candidates contesting for AMAC offices. As a result of the low turnout and apparent disinterest, all the shops at the Gishiri area were open for business. “Besides, the positions they are contesting for are their own shops. So, why should I close mine for theirs,’’ he said.
