The Nigerian Air Force has said it deployed eight aircraft to airlift 633,790kg of sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials for the general elections.
The NAF said the aircraft flew 340 hours in 257 sorties with 120 crew members across 31 states from February 12 to March 3.
He said Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance aircraft would be deployed on election day to monitor flashpoints. According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the meeting afforded officers to give updates on the security arrangements for the elections in their areas.
“Eight NAF aircraft were deployed in the airlift operation, flying a total of about 340 hours in 257 sorties with about 120 crew members involved, comprising pilots, technicians and other specialties operating on an almost round-the-clock basis.
