Dayo Olumide, the acting Managing Director of Nigeria Air, has admitted that the ‘Nigeria Air’ airplane that landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on 26th May 2023, was a chartered one from Ethiopia. SaharaReporters had in May reported that the plane unveiled by former president, Muhammadu Buhari, as Nigerian Air a few days before he left office, was over 10 years old and belonged to Ethiopian Airlines.
June 7, 2023Dayo Olumide, the acting Managing Director of Nigeria Air, has admitted that the ‘Nigeria Air’ airplane that landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on 26th May 2023, was a chartered one from Ethiopia.
“Then on the 26th of May 2023, it has Nigeria Air colours without changing ownership. It was first spotted in South Africa before it flew to Nigeria today.” The Nigeria Air MD added that his mandate is to secure an operating licence for the airline that is still in its early stages. “You don’t need to have a licence to do that, you just charter an aircraft, an aircraft you paid for it, it will be brought here, take your passengers, and off you go.
“So we brought it in here to show them what the aircraft will look like. Then the social media dimension came into it.
