Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has described the rehabilitation of the Warri Refinery as the Federal Government’s New Year gift to Nigeria ns. The governor also congratulated President Bola Tinubu for championing such a significant breakthrough in the petroleum industry. Recall that the refinery started operations on Monday, December 30, at a 60 per cent production capacity.
A statement issued by Fred Itua, the chief press secretary to Governor Okpebholo said the administration’s reform in the oil sector has started to yield results. “The restoration of the 125,000 barrels per day Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company marks a turnaround in the nation’s petroleum sector. “I hail President Tinubu for the reform in the sector, which has started yielding positive results and this will lead to the advancement of the economy. I urge Nigerians to support the president,” he said. Itua said with the Port Harcourt, Warri and Dangote refineries now functional, there is hope that the petroleum sector is up for a turnaround. He further congratulated to president and the managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari for achieving such a feat. “For me, this is certainly a New Year gift to Nigerians. Edo State will continue to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government to restore our national pride and make Nigeria a hub for crude oil refining in Africa,” Itua said
