PETALING JAYA: Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen has made a winning start to show he is back in business.
The world No. 1 defeated Loh Kean Yew 21-23, 21-13, 21-16 to contribute a point as Denmark went on to beat Singapore 4-1 in their Group A tie in the Sudirman Cup at the Olympic Sports Centre in Suzhou, China, on Sunday night.
He fell to a shock defeat to Ng Tze Yong in the second round of the All-England before going down fighting to Chou Tien-chen of Taiwan in the semi-finals of the Swiss Open. ‘‘I was also lucky in some parts of the game today and it was a close battle, and I’m happy that I managed to win it. “It’s good to be back in the spotlight and nice to be representing Denmark as a team again,” added the professional player.
