The Vice Chancellor (VC) of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Prof. Ayodeji Abgoola has said that the current varsity’s administration would steer the institution to the next level, by making it a 21st Century citadel of learning.
Agboola, who spoke at the 40th anniversary of the institution, disclosed that the event was to highlight the institution’s achievements and celebrate its growth as well as to bring the university community together.
He said that the current management would ensure the continued development of the Olabisi Onabanjo University to rank as a World Class citadel of learning, not only in producing quality, refined and employable graduates, but also in research and innovations. “The current administration aims at improving the funding profile of the university using the model of cost-saving measures through full computerisation of operations comprising e-procurement system as well as fund generation through building on the vast opportunities offered by the Open and Distance Learning Centre.
He further stressed the need to improve on the existing achievement on e-compliant of the institution recorded in a short through enhancing ICT resources and deploying it in every facet of the university. He noted that the university would not have been able to get to its current enviable height without the support of State and Federal Governments as well as good-spirited individuals, corporate bodies and the host Communities that donated buildings housing many of our departments and units.
