Veteran Nollywood actress Morenike Sulaimon, known as Mama Ereko , has opened up about the emotional challenges she faced during her marriage to her late husband. In an interview on Talk2Dunnis TV, the 79-year-old actress shared her struggles with infidelity and her decision to prioritize her children and maintain her youthful appearance after her husband's death.
Mama Ereko, who began her acting career in 1982 and has since starred in and produced numerous films, revealed that her husband frequently sent her on errands when he had other women visiting. She described her pain and frustration at finding other women in her home, but emphasized her fear of confronting them or her husband. She specifically mentioned one mistress who was particularly bold, even sleeping in their house. Mama Ereko stated that she chose not to remarry because she felt the stress of marriage contributed to premature aging in women and wanted to preserve her appearance. She also emphasized her commitment to her children and stated that she felt she was already a man and didn't need another man. The actress also shared her experiences in the film industry, highlighting the challenges she faced with movie marketers. She recounted instances where she invested her own money to produce movies without making a profit. She expressed relief when she began working with AbdulRazaq of Corporate Pictures, who helped her achieve financial success and recover her capital. Mama Ereko also spoke about her relentless headaches preventing her from writing scripts, relying on others to handle that aspect of filmmaking. She addressed the issue of sex-for-roles in the industry, stating that she was never approached because she started producing her own movies early on.
