Professor Salihu Mohammed Niworu of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai in Niger State has said corruption, primitive wealth accumulation and
maladministration are responsible for the current wave of over throw of governments in some African countries.Niworu, a professor of Political Economy spoke at the 20th lecture series held at the campus auditorium in Lapai with the theme; Primitive Capital Accumulation and Poverty in Nigeria: Where is the Place of Nation Building.
He chided Nigerian governments that celebrate the construction of dual carriage ways in cities rather than investing in the construction of rural road networks and bridges in ungoverned spaces across the country. He called for the creation of a more efficient local government system with full financial autonomy in order to bring massive development to the grassroots.
He said the best way to good governance is to create more Local governments and make them financially independent.
