“I can tell you authoritatively that more than half of the 27 House members would soon defect to APC.”
Barely 48 hours after his inauguration as the fifth governor of Imo State, the emergence of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the lone state chief executive on the platform of All Progressives Congress in the Southeast geopolitical zone has triggered off mixed fortunes for the party in the state.
This is just as no fewer than 14 members of the state House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and Action Alliance are set to defect to the APC following the change of government in the state. Others are Obinna Okwara ; Hercules Okoro ; Kanayo Onyemachi ; Solomon Anukam ; Michael Njoku, and Chyna Iwuanyanwu , among others.
The duo are core loyalists of Chief Emeka Ihedioha, who Uzodinma replaced as governor following the Supreme Court judgment. They may not find favour under the new arrangement to retain their positions. Speaking with The Guardian in a telephone interview, Nwafor blamed the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for encouraging confusion and foisting impunity in the state chapter.
