The Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly, Dennis Guwor, has called on the Christian faithful to continue to uphold the true essence of Easter in their daily lives. This is contained in a message by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, on Saturday in Asaba.

Guwor emphasized the need for Christians to reflect on the importance of the celebration by exhibiting sustained love and willingness to sacrifice in their day-to-day living. The speaker noted that the advice became necessary due to the prevailing disconnect among the people in terms of true love, mutual respect and genuine affection for one another. According to him, the absence of the three elements was capable of endangering sustainable peace, unity of purpose and development in the society.

Guwor stressed that Easter is not just a celebration but a period of sober reflection and genuine reconciliation with God. “As Christians all over the world mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ – the Son of God as epitomised by Easter, I congratulate the people of Delta for the religious event and enjoin them to reflect on the essence of the celebration. “Easter is a period in the global calendar when Christians mark the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
