Car thieves have a new way to track your car and steal it from your driveway

First, here’s how it works: Apple says the device has unique Bluetooth identifiers that change frequently, helping prevent it being tracked by anyone other than the owner. Because the company harnesses the My Find network of hundreds of millions of Apple devices, the AirTag can determine the approximate location of whatever it’s placed on.

Because the device has been designed to discourage unwanted tracking, Apple says the Find My network will notify you “if an unknown AirTag is seen moving with you over time. An AirTag that isn’t with the person who registered it for an extended period of time will also play a sound when moved.” The most likely scenario would be that you would get an “AirTag Found Moving With You” or “AirTag Detected” message on your iPhone or iPad.
