Both social and economic activities of the ancient town were on Monday paralysed following a violent protest by the youths of the town over the disconnection of the town from the national grid by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC,which alleged attack by the youths of the town on the staff of the company.

The governor also frowned at the attack on journalists on legitimate assignment whose equipment were also destroyed by protesters. The newsmen were in Ilesa in the early hours of Monday to cover the protest embarked upon by irate youths over power outage in Ijesa land.
