Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been seen as a better option for Manchester United than the highly sorted Declan Rice, according to a report in England.

The Nigeria international, who has three years left on his current deal, helped Leicester City lift the English FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history last season.Since the arrival of Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford on Friday, Rice has been another name rumoured to be joining United before the close of the transfer window.

The Hammers are seeking £80m for him though, which is an asking price United certainly won’t be prepared to meet. The report further revealed that Rice isn’t a massive upgrade on what United already have in Fred and Scott McTominay but a move for Ndidi will protect the Reds defence better and free up Paul Pogba to do what he does best, as was seen in his performances for France at the last European Championship.
