United Nations Children’s Fund has adopted Teaching at the Right Level to scale up teaching of pupils in Borno State. According to the Fund, TaRL employs Words Formation and the Oral Additional Charts for the children to write sentences, addition and multiplication of numbers in various classes.

He noted that most of the pupils could not write and speak in English before adopting TaRL by UNICEF in the 25 target schools. The two-week capacity building workshop is for teachers in the various basic schools in the state. Declaring the training sessions open, yesterday, in Maiduguri, NEDC Managing Director, Mohammed Alkali, represented by Sa’adatu Shehu, disclosed: “The Education Endowment Fund was to address the poor human development indices and the rising rates of illiteracy and poverty in the North East.”
