Uneasy Calm in Kano as Ganduje Set to Announce New Emir
The governor of Kano, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is set to announce the appointment of a new emir, following the removal of Emir Muhammad Sanusi ll on Monday.
Although it could not be confirmed, speculations are rife that the governor will announce Emir of Bichi, Aminu Ado Bayero, to replace Sanusi, while the emir of Bichi may be replaced by Galadima of Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi. A combined team of security operatives has been deployed along the road leading to the palace while there are reports that the the dethroned emir has been placed under hourse arrest. as a detachment of heavily armed security men barricaded the emir’s palace.
