The United Nations Security Council has condemned the multiple terrorist attacks on Felo, Monguno and Nganzai in Borno State, which resulted in the death of about 120 persons and injuries to others.
The UNSEC in a statement on Wednesday underlined the need to bring the perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of the reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice.
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents had on June 9 and 10 launched attacks on the Felo community, killing scores of people. On June 13, it carried out another attack on a UN humanitarian facility in Monguno, while a similar attack claimed many lives in Nganzai on the same day. The council commended the efforts of countries in the region, including the Multinational Joint Task Force, to effectively combat terrorism and encourage further progress in this regard.
It said, “Members of the Security Council underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice, and urged all states, in accordance with their obligations under international laws and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with the government of Nigeria and all other relevant authorities in this regard.”All rights reserved.
