National Defense Adviser to the United Nations, Major General Lincoln Ogunewe (rtd) has officially declared for the Imo State governorship
election scheduled for November 11, 2023, on the platform of the Labour Party .
He also launched his campaign strategy, tagged, ‘Reset Imo,’ which, he said, would, among other things, complement the victory of Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti presidential election to restore citizens’ confidence in the governance of the state.Addressing party chieftains and members at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, yesterday, the ex-military chief said his decision was informed by the urgent need to save Imo from imminent chaos if the wrong person continues to govern the state in 2023.
He said he would prioritise security, economic drive and human capacity building in his administration if elected, using his wealth of experience, capability and contacts. He said: “Nigeria at the moment needs an interventionist. This is why God sent Peter Obi to come and save the country, and I am committed to working for his emergence.“Also, Imo is on a free fall and needs an interventionist. I know that I have all it takes to reset Imo. I have the capability and orientation. I have the training to ensure that Imo is secured and free from any sort of problem that negates the progress of the state.
