KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth has expressed its disappointment against an 'autocratic ruling' to reduce the youth age cap from 40 to 30.

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth has expressed its disappointment against an"autocratic ruling" to reduce the youth age cap from 40 to 30.

Its Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said it was unbecoming of a minister to push for such a major policy change without consulting the relevant stakeholders, including Majlis Belia Malaysia . "The Minister concerned should do some homework, and get feedback from relevant stakeholders first," he said after chairing the Umno Youth exco meeting on Monday .

Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had said that the decision to reduce the youth age cap from 40 to 30 was final, and that it only involved associations under the purview of the Registrar of Youth.On Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz's criticism against the appointment of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the BN board of advisers chairman, Asyraf said Umno was open to differing views.
