SEREMBAN: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says he was aware of plans being hatched by detractors to cause problems from within after the party polls.
The Umno president said members who won posts in the recent party wing polls should work with the leadership and not conspire with those bent on destroying it."Do not conspire with outsiders or those who want to destroy Umno as this will only weaken us. Do not be the enemy within," he said in his speech at an event to introduce candidates to Negri Sembilan delegates here.
He said those planning to form groups to force the collapse of the government would have to face him first. Ahmad Zahid said he was confident that the newly-elected Youth, Wanita and Puteri wing leaders were with the top Umno leadership.Ahmad Zahid also said it was important that decisions made by the supreme council and other internal party matters are not shared with others.
"Some who held positions would act as heroes and criticise collective decisions. That is not good," he said.However, he said he had been misrepresented as being a vindictive person. "I have picked individuals who did not agree with me to contest in by-elections. I gave them the opportunity if they have the potential to be good leaders," he said, adding that he had also recommended them to be appointed as ministers and deputy ministers.
