Umahi suspends state, local government Auditor-Generals for incompetence
Umahi made this known in a statement signed and forwarded to DAILY POST in Abakaliki by the secretary to the state government and coordinating commissioner, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala.
The statement reads in part: “Following the directive of His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State Engr. David Nweze Umahi, the State Auditor-General, Mr. Innocent Nweda and the Auditor-General for Local Governments, Ebonyi State Mr. George Ukpai are hereby suspended indefinitely from their offices with immediate effect.
“During the period of suspension, Mr. Innocent Nweda should handover to the next most senior officer in rank, while Dr. U.S.A. Udu should take charge of the Local Government Audit as Acting Auditor-General until further notice. “All handover and takeover should be completed before the close of work on Monday 13th July 2020” he stated.
