It also played out live on broadcast television including on Sky News where it was recorded as being over 30 seconds too early. “Emergency alarm just went off on a train and there was a polite smattering of applause after it ended because we’re British and therefore TOTALLY INSANE,” Day said on Twitter.
Speaking earlier in the day, Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden admitted the drill could be “annoying” but that it had the potential to save people’s lives once rolled out.He told Sky News that the trial run was a “bit like when the fire alarm goes off at work”.
