The state collation officer of the election and the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku announced the result precisely at 6:45 PM at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office, Independence Layout Enugu and declared Ugwuanyi as the winner.

He gave a total number of registered voters as 1,944,803, while the accredited voters stood at 478,241, rejected vote 7,314 and total valid votes 470927.State collation agent for COWA party confirmed that the election across in the state was free, fair and credible as the result announced by local government collation officers tally with the one he has from pulling units.

The former lawmaker premised his rejection of the election results on the fact that his name was not published among the governorship candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, until a few days to the election. “These fabricated figures fly in the face of the very low turnout of voters in the entire state, resulting from the mistreatment of our candidate by INEC.”Ugwuanyi thanks residents

Accepting the mandate, the governor pledged that his administration will devote energy and time to work harder for the wellbeing and prosperity of the people, stressing that “we are open to new ideas and new visions as we continue to lay the solid foundation for a more prosperous Enugu State”. He equally saluted the Independent National Electoral Commission “for a job well done and for keeping alive the dream of a brighter democracy”, stating that “we are equally grateful to the Nigerian security agencies and the independent observers who ensured that we had peaceful processes at the polls”.
