The President of Uganda Football Federation, Moses Magogo Hassim, has revealed the reason the country got the 2027 African Cup of Nations hosting right ahead of Nigeria, Senegal, and other established countries.

The Confederation of African Football , on Wednesday, awarded the hosting right of the 2025 AFCON to Morocco, and the 2027 AFCON to the trio of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania at the expense of Nigeria and Benin , as well as, the bid by Senegal and Zambia.

“Commonsense showed even the assessors, I am sure, that that Pan-African effort was, logically, the most attractive, apart from any other considerations. We can only get more benefits if we extend this logic to other areas,” he said. “Also, pooling together the sports infrastructure like stadia, made our bid more attractive. I salute the African sporting authorities for this logically unimpeachable decision.”It would be recalled that Sports Minister, John Owan-Enoh and top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation were in Cairo, Egypt, after an alleged assurance from FIFA Committee Member, former NFF President Amaju Pinnick that the Nigeria/Benin Joint bid would scale through.
