Manchester United crashed out of the competition in an embarrassing manner after losing 5-2 on aggregate on Thursday.
The first leg of the quarter-final tie ended 2-2 at Old Trafford. In Spain, Sevilla took total control of the game, beating the Premier League giants 3-0. Youssef En-Nesyri fired the home side in front early following a mistake from Harry Maguire and immediately after the break, they made it two through Loic Bade’s looping header. En-Nesyri later scored his second on the night to put the game to bed.
Scholes, while fielding questions on the areas he feels the Red Devils should improve, listed the right-back position, the attacking line and the goalkeeping areas. “I think the right-back position is a little bit of a problem for him [Ten Hag]. He’s changing all the time between Wan-Bissaka and Dalot, I don’t think he’s sure about either of them,” Scholes told BT Sport.“David de Gea…is not a fantastic footballer. You see the pass he played into Harry Maguire…”
