UEFA confirms Champions League match cancellation after player tests positive to COVID-19
UEFA have confirmed that the Champions League fixture between Linfield and KF Drita has been cancelled following a positive COVID-19 test.
The preliminary round fixture between the Northern Ireland side and the Kosovan club was due to take place on Aug. 11 in Nyon, Switzerland. This is coming after a Drita player tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, having produced a negative COVID-19 test on Aug. 7.However, a UEFA statement read in part: “A player from KF Drita returned a positive result for COVID-19 following testing on the eve of their match against Inter Club d’Escaldes in accordance with the UEFA’s above-mentioned protocol.
“This player was put into quarantine, together with one teammate after traces found he had come into close contact with the affected player.
