Manchester United have mocked Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola by posting a throwback tweet referencing the occasion Julia Roberts visited Old Trafford.
Guardiola spoke out on the Hollywood superstar’s decision to snub a trip to the blue side of Manchester following the Citizen’s 7-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League Round of 16 last night.
Pep Guardiola’s side made it to the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite competition following their 8-1 aggregate victory over the German side to underline their status as favourites to win the competition this season. Despite the win, Guardiola was still in a thorny mood during his post-match press conference following the rejection he felt at Roberts’ snub.
“Julia Roberts years ago came to Manchester – not in the 90s when Sir Alex was winning titles and titles and titles. She came in the period where we were better than United, in these four or five years, right?“And she went to visit Man United. She didn’t come to see us,” Guardiola cried out during his post-match press briefing.
Following the Spaniard’s outcry, Manchester United took to their official social media page to note Guardiola’s disgruntlement and referenced the Pretty Woman actress’ Old Trafford visit with a cheeky caption.
