Two in court for allegedly stealing N280,000
Ojo Taiye, 18, and Lukemam Jimoh, 25, on Friday appeared in Egor Magistrates’ Court in Benin, for allegedly stealing the sum of N280,000.The Police Prosecution, Insp. Lucky Sunday, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Feb. 2, and June 2019 at No 2, Akoda street, Evbuotubu Quarters, Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 516, 390 and 126 of the Criminal Code Cap. 48 Vol. 11, Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, now applicable in Edo which prescribes seven years jail term each, if found guilty.The Magistrate, Aiyanyo Blessing admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum each, adding that the surety must be gainfully employed in a recognized establishment and adjourned the case until Feb.
