The Police has arraigned Ayemere Aigbefoh, 27, and Christopher Uche, 42, before an Ogbeson Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court, Ikpoba-Hill, Benin City for alleged theft of eight used Toyota Hiace Bus engines. The prosecutor, Inspector Charity Asemotah said Aigbefoh, between March 2019 and May 2020 at Big Joe Ventures Ltd, Aduwawa Quarters, Benin, did steal eight used
The first defendant is being tried on a count charge of stealing, while second defendant is tried on receiving stolen property.
Insp. Asemotah said the offence contravened the provision of sections 390 and 427 of the Criminal Code Laws of the defunct Bendel State of 1976, now applicable in Edo, and if found guilty, the defendants risk seven-year jail term.The Chief Magistrate, Prince Mutairu Oare, admitted the defendants to a N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
He said that one of the sureties must be a responsible public servant and must depose to an affidavit of means with two recent passport photographs of themselves and that of the defendants.
