Two persons have been reported dead in Obiaruku and neighbouring communities in the Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State when youths from Umusume and Obi-Edike clashed on Wednesday.

The crisis, according to sources, was fuelled by an age-long land dispute between the people of Umusume, an Obiaruku community, and the Obi-Edike Quarter in the Obinomba community, Umukwata kingdom.

Eyewitnesses stated that trouble started when youths from Obinomba, who were celebrating the Ukwata Festival, encroached on the Umusume community. As at the last count, two youths were reportedly fell, while scores of other persons, who sustained injuries, had been rushed to hospital in the neighbouring university community of Abraka in the Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state for treatment.
