Two yet-to-be-identified persons have lost their lives, while one other was critically injured in an early morning crash in Ogun State.
The accident, which occurred close to the Christopher University, Mowe, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state, happened around 7.44am on Tuesday.
The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a statement. Akinbiyi said the vehicles involved in the crash were a Mitsubishi Lancer with number plate, AJW 465 AA, loaded with pepper, and a truck, which fled the scene after the accident.Akinbiyi said, “We learnt that the Mitsubishi Lancer, loaded with pepper, according to an eyewitness’ account, rammed into a moving truck inbound Lagos, from behind, this morning. Two of the three passengers on board, including the driver, died on the spot.
“The cause of the accident cannot be ascertained for now, because the only person that could have given a lead to that is the injured victim whose case is critical.“But we suspect it could be as a result of a brake failure and loss of control due to speeding.” Akinbiyi said the bodies had been taken to a private morgue in Sagamu, while the injured victim was rushed to another private hospital for treatment. All rights reserved.
