An unspecified number of Tsangaya students have been kidnapped in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Nigeria. The attack was confirmed by Alhaji Kabiru Dauda, a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, and the proprietor of the school, Liman Abubakar. The incident is believed to be a reprisal attack following recent security operations against bandits in the area.

The member representing Gada-East Constituency in the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Dauda, has confirmed the attack and kidnapping of an unspecified number of Tsangaya students at Gidan Bakuso in Gada Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the attack, Dauda said he received a call that the students were kidnapped around 1:00 am on Saturday, Also confirming the attack, the proprietor of the school, Liman Abubakar, said 15 students were unaccounted for, so far, adding, “We are still counting.” According to Abubakar, the bandits invaded the town around 1:00 am, shot one person and abducted a woman. He added that as they were leaving the town, they sighted the students rushing into their hostels and kidnapped many of them. In the same vein, the member representing, Isa Constituency, Habibu Modachi, who equally confirmed the incident, believed it was a reprisal attack after security operatives raided bandits’ hideouts in the area two days ago
