The Nation Newspaper Troops seize 21m ltrs, 210 metric tons of stolen crude
Troops of Operation Delta Safe and personnel of the Nigerian Navy ship Pathfinder recovered 21,783,310 litres of stolen crude from different locations in the Niger Delta in the first quarters of this year.
Gen. Buba, who put the value of the 21, 573, 310- litre stolen crude at N20 billion, added that the troops seized 723,430 litres of illegally refined diesel, 53,300 litres of kerosene and 52,730 litres of petrol from illegal refiners in the region. Gen. Buba added that the troops were able to recover 1,497 AK47 rifles, 33,878 rounds of special ammunition, 12,698 rounds NATO, 948 assorted arms and 5,520 assorted ammunition.
“We have been collecting intelligence, hunting them and striking them where they hide and hibernate. We have employed significant firepower to neutralise several terrorists and disrupt their activities.” Four wooden boats with a storage capacity of 7,000 metric tones, were also seized from the criminals.
“We arrested about 14 persons in the act of stealing the crude and also illegally refining this crude.
