The Nigerian Army on Thursday said troops deployed for counter-terrorism operations in Kaduna State neutralised one terrorist. The bandits were in transit to unleash mayhem along Mallum Forest before the troops intercepted and recovered arms and ammunition from them.
In a statement on its social media platform, it said the troops, acting on credible intelligence, tactically positioned themselves along the terrorists' axis of movement.
Upon sighting the terrorists on motorbikes emerging from Mallum Forest through an alternate route, they engaged the terrorists with heavy fire, neutralising one while others fled in disarray into the nearby forest, thereby thwarting their nefarious mission and preventing a potential attack on innocent civilians. The statement added that the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, five AK-47 rifle magazines, 18 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 19 rounds of 7.
